Understanding Sexuality: A Course for Teachers
Adapted from Christian Family Life Education C.F.L.E.

A four-day course designed to help teachers adopt positive attitudes towards sexuality and gain insight and understanding of the Catholic Church's teachings in this area.

The New Zealand Catholic Bishop's Conference in 1991 called all teachers to put forward the Church's teachings in a "positive and convincing manner"  They go on to say;  "The greatest hope for our young people of developing a happy and sound sexual life will come from a capacity to love and accept themselves, and others, warmly and openly....This must begin in the family.  It must be supported and developed in the school."

Barbara Simpson is the Us course co-ordinator for the Catholic Schools Office.  Her role is to support schools develop healthy and positive sexuality education programmes that are in keeping with our Catholic Character.

In order to provide that support, a range of dates are offered for the Us course.  There is a combination of midweek dates, Friday/Saturday dates and two block courses, one being held during school lolidays. Barbara is able to offer the course on request for eight or more people, and can include ancillary staff as this course would benefit people from all walks of life.
